Young European Jazz in China
May 9, 2007
EYJO’s “Swinging Europe” project aims to emphasize the diversity of European jazz heritage and to give these traditions new life in compositions by the most talented European composers. The orchestra commissions new music each year for concert performances within and outside the EU. The goals are to demonstrate the multiplicity of European jazz traditions. To give the traditions new life through the most talented European composers' work.
Every year EYJO assembles up to 19 of Europe's finest and most talented highly professional jazz musicians, not exceeding 30 years of age, with one aim in mind; to play new European music composed especially for them by the best European composers. The musicians and composers/conductors may be selected for one year only. The musicians will be selected with regard to the representation of as many nationalities as possible. 45 European nations are involved in the cooperation.
