The Danish Arts Council’s Committee for Performing Arts provides funding for international exchange. Ongoing support includes:

  • Support and promotion of Danish performing arts (artists and ensembles) to tour and to engage in international programmes. The Danish artists can apply five times a year (1. April, 1. June, 1. September, 1. December, 1. February) for travel grants.
  • Promotion of Danish performing arts internationally (information and contact facilitating)
  • Hosting and supporting visitor’s programmes for international programmers and producers. 
  • Support and advice to international partners
  • Key presentation programmes within bilateral and multilateral programmes involving Danish companies and institutions
  • Initiating and funding the first showcase for theatre, performance and dance from Denmark P@RT in October 2006. The second edition is planned for Autumn 2008. 80 international promoters participated. A specific fund has been created to support follow-up invitations and projects. Participating international promoters and organisations can apply for funding for longer term programmes.

In addition to the Committee’s own programme, funding of specific large-scale focus programmes initiated by the Arts Council is allocated on programme-by-programme basis and can include performing arts e.g. DaNY Arts.

Promotion of international performing arts in Denmark
Specific funds to support the presentation of international performing arts in Denmark is normally given to host organisations, festival or theatre in Denmark.

How to apply
International organisations and institutions can obtain support from the Danish Arts Council's Committee for Performing Arts to subsidise the presentation of Danish artists abroad, but as funds are limited, prior contact to the Centre is advised: (no application form needed).

About the Danish Arts Agency’s Centre for Performing Arts
The Centre for Performing Arts is responsible for all matters concerning performing arts within the the Danish Arts Agency. This includes drama, dance, music theatre, performance art, children’s theatre and touring theatre.

The Centre is the secretariat for the Danish Arts Council’s Committee for Performing Arts and the Danish Arts Foundation’s Committee for Film and Theatre and acts on behalf of the Danish Arts Council’s Committee in international projects.

The main aim of the Centre for Performing Arts in the international context is to support and promote contact and cooperation between Danish and international artists and operators. Priority is given to projects and initiatives that will integrate Danish artists in a long term international exchange and dialogue.
