Music

The Danish Arts Council's Music Committee provides support for international music exchange and Danish music abroad. Foreign partners who wish to invite a Danish musician or composer or a Danish ensemble, or who wish to present Danish music, may apply for grants. On application from a foreign musician or ensemble, the Danish Arts Foundation can provide support towards commission fees for Danish composers (rhythmic or classical music). The institution applying must have concluded an agreement with the composer, who must have accepted the task and the commission.

How to apply
Please use the application form for international music exchange
In connection with commissions, the Danish Arts Foundation secretariat may also be contacted:  (no application form needed).

Rock, jazz, folk and world music
The Danish Arts Council’s Committee for Music has decentralised the administration of state subsidies for international rhythmic music tours and projects. The genre organisations for rock, jazz, folk music and world music are responsible for distributing grants for international projects. Grants for international projects in classical and contemporary compositional music are, however, distributed by the Committee for Music itself.

As of 1 January 2005, the new organisation Music Export Denmark, or MXD, has also been charged with allocating economic support for international tours and projects within rock/pop, with a three-year grant of DKK 10 million from the Danish Ministry of Culture.

How to apply
Foreign partners who wish to invite Danish bands or musicians or who wish to present Danish music, may apply for grants directly to the genre organisations:
