The acclaimed Danish jazz orchestra, New Jungle Orchestra, headed by Pierre Dørge, plays two concerts on the Virgin Islands celebrating the 90th year of the transfer of the Virgin Islands from Danmark to the USA.
On March 31, the day of the transfer, which is celebrated annually, the orchestra takes part in a ceremony at the local parliament in the town of Charlotte Amalie on St. Thomas. In the evening New Jungle Orchestra will give a concert.
April 1 the orchestra travels to St. Croix, where it will appear in an afternoon concert. Pierre Dørge and his band will remain on the Virgin Islands until April 5, conducting workshops with children.
Besides Mr. Dørge, the orchestra consists of Helle Irene Becker, Jakob M. Mygind, Morten E. Carlsen, Kasper W. Tranberg, Martin Andersen and Henry Ayi-Solomon.
